RBT: What needs to be done by the authorities and private companies in order to develop logistics?

Robin Martens: On the short term, authorities need to support trade and to come up with a clear and stable strategy on logistics development. On the medium to long terms, they need to efficiently implement this strategy and respect deadlines.

Companies have to take the lead and enter a close dialogue with the state in order to decide what is needed and what is not.

RBT: Considering the poor state of infrastructure in Romania, is it really possible to attract new cargo flows?

R.M.: Logistics is a consequence of trade: if there’s no trade, then there’s no logistics. In my opinion, lack of infrastructure is not the main obstacle slowing logistics development.  Of course infrastructure is needed, but you can do whatever you want on the logistics side, you can make the best possible highways, but if that is not interesting for the trade, there will be no logistics.
