Government officials and representatives of transporters’ union COTAR signed a protocol to solve the claims of the union, which subsequently discarded planned protests, but this triggered new threats from FORT, another transporters’ union. Under the protocol with COTAR, the Government was to adopt an emergency decree against piracy in passenger transportation and a unitary transport bill.

Before the signing of this protocol, more than 11.000 Romanian transporters were set to protest at the Government’s headquarters, demanding fines against unlicensed transport companies, the extension of transport licenses until 2016 and a single bill to regulate passenger transport. Further problems appeared because the Government has previously agreed with FORT on actions that are partly contradicted by the protocol with COTAR.

As a consequence, FORT announced its own protests, criticising the Government for lack of consistency.
