Freight transport on the Danube, poor

 

Currently, the Danube River is used only at 4% of its capacity and from 2010 until the last year there was a decrease in the number of tons of freight per kilometer of waterways.
According to Eurostat data, in 2010 were carried 32.088 million tons of cargo, in 2011 – 29.396, in 2012 – 27.946 million tons of cargo, and last year traffic fell to 26 858 million tons of cargo.
Also in terms of market share of cargo shipping declines were registered after 2010, from a market share of 27.2% in 2010 to 22.5% in 2012, according to the statistics held by the Ministry of Transport.
