Additionally, works on a 720 km road segment will be undertaken. The new government is committed to complete by 2012 the highway that will link the western border with the port of Constanta (855 km). Works at the sector Targu Mures and Brasov of Transylvania highway would be concluded in 2013-2014.

For the rail transport, the government settles the completion of the work on modernization of the Bucharest-Constanta railway sector, by 2009. Until 2011 the Campina-Brasov sector will also be modernized.

The programme maintains the idea of calculating the fee for the infrastructure use (TUI), by introducing the payment “on coach”, versus the current payment “on train” and by differentiating the applied taxes, according to the train (goods or passenger) and railway types (line, primary or secondary). As far as ship transport is concerned, the government maintains the initiative of building a bridge over the Danube-Black Sea Canal in the Agigea area. The shore defense and the modernization of the facilities at Danube-BlackSea and the Poarta Alba-Midia Navodari channels, and extending the Constanta harbor mould are on the list. Additionally, the simplification of control formalities of river vessels is also drawn.

Air transport will be supported by efficiency measures for airport management – the establishment of the National Bucharest Airport Company (Otopeni and Baneasa) and the National Banat Airport Company (Timisoara and Arad), but also by carrying off the investment in the completion of the passenger terminal at the Airport “Henri Coanda”.
