For a few days, the country was like an impregnable fort, defended by unbearable taxes and inflexible generals – the mayors unwilling to abolish unjust tariffs. Eventually, the Government reacted and abolished the border transit fees, but action was taken too late.
It was a lesson never to be repeated again, otherwise Romania would not be known as a strategic European crossroad, but as the country where transports are blocked in long queues at the borders.
