Stellantis has stopped producing for its Chinese partner Leapmotor T03 small electric car in Poland. The company is evaluating alternative production options.

The group „no longer assembles Leapmotor’s T03 model at the Tychy plant in Poland.

„While the company remains fully committed to launching Leapmotor vehicles in Europe, it is currently evaluating different production options,” Stellantis said, without providing further details, including whether the model could be moved to another European factory.

The production halt was first reported on Monday by French newspaper Les Echos.

Stellantis did not say what prompted the decision to stop T03 assembly.

A person familiar with the matter said that Stellantis and Leapmotor did not yet plan to resume T03 production in Europe. They are looking to upgrade the T03 to A-series models that will be produced outside of China from 2026, the person added.

Stellantis has halted production of the Leapmotor T03 in Poland and is looking for alternatives

Last year, the partners abandoned plans to build a second Leapmotor model, the B10 electric crossover, in Poland.

The move came after the Chinese government privately told automakers to halt large investments in European countries that support additional European Union tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles, sources told Reuters in November.

Poland was among the EU countries that supported the tariffs.

Spain, which abstained from EU tariffs, is now favored for the production of the Leapmotor B10 EV.

Stellantis owns a 51% stake in the Leapmotor International joint venture with its Chinese partner, with exclusive rights to export, sell and produce Leapmotor electric vehicles outside China.
