GXO Logistics, Inc. (NYSE: GXO), the world’s largest provider of dedicated contract logistics services, announced the successful deployment of Global Robotics Services (GRS) robots in a 3D sortation system.

„GXO has invested in a pilot program using robotic sorting technology to increase productivity, accuracy and operational efficiency for one of our major customers in the fashion industry,.” said Alessandro Renzo, General Manager, Italy and Switzerland, GXO. „We are constantly seeking and testing innovative technologies to meet the rapidly evolving needs of our customers and expect a successful test to lead to a larger installation at this site.”
A first in the European industry
The robotic sorting solution from GRS (Global Robotics Services) can be implemented quickly and easily – usually within weeks, as opposed to the months required for alternative sorting technologies. The robotics-as-a-service, or RaaS, model makes this solution an effective tool for managing peaks in activity, such as during the peak holiday season, and dramatically reduces the need for customer capital expenditures and long lead times required for other solutions. GXO is currently successfully operating this technology in a state-of-the-art facility in the US.
GXO designs and operates the world’s most advanced storage solutions. Technology is a key competitive advantage for GXO, enabling it to add value to its customers’ end-to-end operations in terms of cost, efficiency, accuracy and environmental impact. GXO is an industry leader in automation, generating approximately 30% of its revenue from automated solutions, compared to the industry average of 8%. In the first quarter of 2023, GXO set a new record for operational technology deployments, growing total technical and automated solutions by 64% year-over-year.
