The Romanian brand Dacia, part of the French group Renault, recorded a decline in sales in January 2025 compared to the same month in 2024.

Data from the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA) show that in January 2025, Europeans registered 48,998 cars of the Dacia brand, down 5.2% compared to the January 2024 result (51,666 units). In this context, the brand’s market share decreased from 5.1% to 4.9%.

Despite the decline in January, Dacia attracted more customers than the main brand of the group to which it belongs, Renault. Thus, according to ACEA, the French brand’s cars were registered in 48,443 copies, 18.1% above the result of the same month last year (41,020 units). At the same time, in January 2025, Dacia surpassed important names such as Kia (41,762 units), Opel (28,449 units), Citroen (27,170 units), Fiat (23,608 units) or Cupra (20,855 units) in the ranking of the most registered car brands in Europe.

Dacia sold 5.2% fewer cars in Europe in January 2025

The brands with the highest sales in Europe in January 2025 were Volkswagen (112,844 units), Toyota (72,804 units), BMW (59,765 units), Skoda (59,465 units) and Peugeot (55,445 units). The largest increases were reported by Alpine (122.3%), Cupra (56.7%) and Lexus (43.7%), while the most significant decreases are visible in Smart (-97.5%), Lancia (-73.2%) and Jaguar (-47.3%).

At the level of automotive groups, the leader of the sales ranking remains Volkswagen (268,409 units), followed by Stellantis (154,079 units), Renault (97,910 units), Hyundai-Kia (83,297 units) and Toyota (80,270 units). Although its sales are not yet high, it is worth noting that the Chinese group SAIC grew in Europe by 36.8% – the largest group-wide sales increase on the continent – to 22,994 units. This group sells vehicles of the MG, Maxus, IM or Roewe brands.
