The new innovative concept developed by Herbert Klein and Richard Anzböck comprises many solutions to optimise the design of a containership. These range from an economy of stowage space to changes in the side board structures, to the shifting of wing voids in the middle of the ship or a fuel-saving propulsion system and a new disposition of the engines. The arrangement of the wing void in the middle of the ship coupled with side boards elevated for strength purposes make it possible to stow four containers side by side and to operate in coastal regions where an elevated freeboard is required. The positioning of the engines over the stern in the containers is thought of as a practical option for a quick exchange in the case of failure of series parts or accident: the container carrying the engines can be transported very quickly throughout Europe.
